About Martin

Welcome

My name is Martin Backhauss and I am a professional and published headshot, portrait, and fashion photographer based in San Francisco, California. Born and raised in Germany I studied media design, media techniques, and multimedia production at the Bergische University of Wuppertal in Germany.

My portrait and commercial work includes lookbooks, accessory lines, and portraits of professional actors, athletes, musicians, and more.

I can be commissioned for fashion editorials, lookbooks, advertising campaigns, and actor/musician portraits. I also do video production from start to finish.

My style is very consistent, clean, and sophisticated. In the studio, I shoot on a solid background, usually white, gray, and black to accentuate specifically your features. On location, I usually pick environments and lighting setups that add depth to your character.
